About the Area:
If you spend any amount of time in Austin, you’re bound to hear about the “Y” at Oak Hill at some point. It’s not a fitness facility, as you might think – it’s a reference to the place where highways 71 and 290 split to go their separate ways into the hill country. Oak Hill is more than its famous traffic intersection, though. The population explosion of Austin has found its way to this unincorporated area, bringing with it a variety of dining choices, shopping, schools and recreation. Oak Hill residents also benefit from close proximity to Seton Southwest Hospital and Austin Community College’s Pinnacle Campus. A strong sense of community is evident in its hyperlocal newspaper, the Oak Hill Gazette and the Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods, which gathers volunteers every second Wednesday to discuss issues of interest. Yes, there are oaks and hills, but there’s so much more. It’s a great place to call home.
